An Interfaith Collaboration | Bridging Faiths Through Meals
Working together across different faiths, bringing food that reflects the love and compassion of the house of God. Our community is made up of dedicated volunteers, generous food providers, and the cherished guest to whom we serve. Together, we create a space where kindness and unity flourish, transcending religious boundaries to support those in need.
“Kindness helps make other people’s lives more bearable, especially by sharing the weight of their problems, needs and fears. This way of treating others can take different forms: an act of kindness, a concern not to offend by word or a deed, a readiness to alleviate their burdens.”
Fratelli Tutti (2020) – Pope Francis
Our Community Meal gives us an opportunity to listen to our guests. It is about listening and being open and allowing the Spirit to teach us through our guests and strangers. As Pope Francis often reminds us, “We have to respect truth wherever it is found.” Hospitality therefore has a special meaning for our Interfaith Community Meal as it is a celebration of how we receive our guests, including those of other faiths and those of no faith. In our view, guests must be honoured by welcoming them.
The Community meal is served at the Sacre-Coeur Church located at 381 Sherbourne Street, on the NE corner of Sherbourne and Carlton. ROKserves to enable people to gather for lunch in an atmosphere of friendship and hospitality. The food is prepared by a variety of faith communities, and all are welcome to join us.
